DC Rated

fdcThe interruption of true DC currents (voltage does not pass through zero) has long been known to be more difficult than that of AC currents. In the presence of large time constants and relatively small prospective currents, safe interruption of these currents can only be achieved by fuses specially designed for these types of applications. To address these DC circuits, Ferraz has been developing true DC fuses for over 25 years and is considered the leader in DC protection. One such leading DC fuse design is that of the 13/16″ x 5″ (20mm x 127mm) cartridge fuse capable of handling voltages up to 1500VDC. These full range DC fuses have been designed to interrupt very high available fault currents and are suitable for protection of traction auxiliary circuits, filters, measuring circuits, discharging capacitor circuits, etc. In addition to the cartridge fuses, Ferraz offers a complete line of 750VDC square fuses which are quite common in the transit industry where high DC fault currents at 600VDC or higher or not unusual.

Capacitor

fcapComplimentary to the wide variety of fuse lines that Ferraz offers for all different markets and applications, Ferraz also offers a line of capacitor fuses ranging from 600VAC to 4000VAC. Originally designed to offer consumers an equivalent to the major manufacturers’ models, Ferraz continues to expand its line of capacitor fuses based on the market’s needs. Ferraz offers many models with the same electrical ratings but with various blade, stud, or end-contact designs in order to conform to a specific customer’s needs.

General Purpose Fuses

Class J

(Fast Acting, Time Delay, And DC Fast Acting) 600 Volts
Class J Fuses are space saving, highly current limiting, rejection fuses for circuits with ratings requirements from 1 to 600 amperes. Type 2 protection is assured in the protection of motors, circuit breakers, panel boards, and variable speed drives.

Class R

(Time Delay) RK1 and RK5 – 250 Volts and 600 Volts
Ferraz Class R Fuses meet or exceed all requirements of their class, and by extension, exceed those of the Classes H, K1, and K5. The high level of performance make them ideal for overload and short-circuit protection for transformers, motors, and generally all circuits with high inrush currents.

Class L

(Fast Acting, Time Delay, And DC Fast Acting) 600 Volts
Class L Fuses are also space saving, highly current limiting, rejection fuses, but for circuits with ratings requirements from 601 to 6000 amperes. Type 2 protection is again assured in the protection of motors, circuit breakers, panel boards, and variable speed drives.

Class CC

(Time Delay) 600Volts – 1A to 30A
Class CC Fuses were developed with the rejection feature dimension in order to ensure that compact fuses of lesser performance characteristics could not be substituted for them. They are designed to offer Type 2 protection of control circuit transformers, branch circuit applications, and small motors.

Midget

(Fast Acting) 600Volts – 100mA to 30A
The Ferraz 6JX Series Fuses are high interrupting, current limiting general purpose fuses, that combine high performance with minimal size and weight. Typical applications include control circuits, lighting, and small motor and control transformer protection. Mainly recommended for applications requiring very precise operating characteristics.

European

Type gG
Full range for protection of conductors and components against low overloads. Type aM – Motor protection fuses. Designed to withstand motor starting currents and provide short circuit protection. European General Purpose Fuses offer many technical and economical advantages for the protection of electrical industrial distribution and control equipment. The high breaking capacity and exceptional reliability of these fuses make them a valuable asset to network protection.

E and R Rated

E and R
Rated Ferraz fuses are no-venting, hermetically sealed, clip mounting fuses.They can be mounted indoors, or in an enclosure without risk of release. Their striker pin allows visual indication and can trigger auxiliary protective devices. They are suitable for use in Class 1, Group D, Division 2 hazardous areas, in a cabinet without striker pin.

Fuserbloc Heavy Duty Fusible Disconnect Switches

Designed around North American standards, it gives you a product that “makes and breaks” under load. The most recent Fuse technologies were combined with the switch to provide the best protection against overload and short circuit in your systems. The switch line is tested and approved for use in the most stringent applications such as “Service Entrance Rating”.

Double Break:
This modern designed mechanism disconnects on both sides of the fuses using two double breaking contacts per pole. This assures the complete isolation of the fuses in OFF position.

Touch Safe:
Our design reduces or eliminates the danger of accidental contact with live, energized parts. All our products are supplied standard with fuse cover.

EXCEPTIONAL 200 KA SHORT CIRCUIT PROTECTION
The Fuserbloc Series with the use of CC or J type fuses provides exceptional high short circuit protection, up to 200 kA. The CC and J fuses are more current limiting than older classes of fuses or circuit breaker.

PANEL SPACE SAVING
This proven switch technology has the fuses incorporated on the top of the switch mechanism to reduce the foot print of the product and save you valuable real estate in your panel.
The space saving can be as much as 50% from the switches designed with use of older fuse classes.

All external handles are available in two colors (black and red/yellow).
Handles offer the user the largest selection of options in operating the switch:

FAST AND SAFE COMMISSIONING
The TEST facility enables testing of the control circuit auxiliaries without switching the main contact or removing the fuses.
This function provides a serious technical and commercial alternative to a separately wired push button.

Handles can be padlocked in the OFF position with up to 3 padlocks. Meets OSHA requirement for lockout/tagout procedures. For safety reasons, the door can not be opened when the handle is padlocked.

In the ON position the door can not be opened.
This interlocking can however be bypassed by authorized persons (defeater option on handle) for maintenance, testing or commissioning.

DEFEATER
The defeat function allows qualified personnel to by-pass the door interlock when the switch is in the on position by means of a tool.
This exclusive design is also available in a 4 and 4X rating.

WELDED CONTACT PROTECTION

European Series Cartridge Style Fuses
The Ferraz Cartidge style semiconductor fuses offer precise and efficient protection of semiconductors where small current ratings are required. Most styles are available with a visual trip indicator which is an integral part of the fuse design. All sizes and styles have corresponding clips, holders, and/or isolators for ease in mounting and convenient fuse replacement. Most holders/isolators can be equipped with a blown fuse microswitch activated by the trip indicator for remote signaling. All these features make the Ferraz cartridge style fuses a favorable solution for low current semiconductor applications
